Every year, St. Teresa’s Academy honors one community leader and one student with the Mother Evelyn O’Neill Award, which recognizes excellence in leadership, community service or educational reform.
STA senior presented with Neil Smith Community Service Award
Sanai K., STA senior, received the Neil Smith Community Service Award from the Derrick Thomas/Neil Smith Third and Long Foundation. This annual honor is presented to a female athlete who has demonstrated outstanding community service. Sanai received $1,000 and a traveling trophy for display at the Academy.
STA students take home prestigious Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
STA fine arts students had a strong showing in this year’s Scholastic Art Awards competition, earning 16 Gold Keys, Silver Keys and Honorable Mentions. In addition, Lucia T., STA sophomore, was an American Visions Nominee for her painting titled Taming the Horse. All Gold Key recipients will proceed to National Adjudication.
New externship program offers career insights
In fall 2021, STA introduced STA Professional Pathways Program, an externship that allows students to experience a real-world business environment between fall and spring semesters.
STA Board of Directors approves strategic plan
In spring 2021, STA faculty and staff finalized the Academy’s five-year strategic plan to provide guidance on the Academy’s relentless pursuit of excellence. The STA Board of Directors approved the plan in June 2021.
