STA Names 2025 Distinguished Alumna

St. Teresa’s Academy is proud to announce this year’s Distinguished Alumna, Marion (Spence, ’87) Pierson, M.D., and two inductees into the Athletic Hall of Fame, Kathy (Teahan, ’76) Jantasch and Sue Christenson (posthumous award).

On Sunday, July 13, The Kansas City Star named St. Teresa’s Academy “Kansas City’s Favorite High School” based on community-wide input – for the third year in a row!



STA Alumna Receives Papal Visit

Anne Marie Whitehead (’10), now Sister Mary Altar of Sacrifice, SSVM, is five years into her mission in Vanimo, Papua New Guinea, a Pacific island country located to the north of Australia. Last September, she had ” … a surreal, once-in-a-lifetime experience” when Pope Francis paid the mission a visit.



Ancestors of STA Alumnae Canonized

Marilyn (Harris, ’61) Dabaghi and more than 30 family and extended family members traveled to Rome late last year for a unique and very special occasion: their ancestors, known as The Massabki Brothers, were canonized as Maronite saints by Pope Francis on October 20, 2024.

Students Named Winners of Pass the Ring

Margaret Huff (’97) and Katie Swetala (’99) were grateful for the experiences at STA and wanted to give back in a unique way – one that would allow them to interact with students and make a direct impact.



STA Alumna Named Obama Scholar

The Obama Foundation announced today that Amanda Morrall (’07), philanthropic thought leader, will be part of its sixth cohort of Obama Scholars. This cohort is comprised of up of 30 emerging leaders from around the world. Morrall is the first African-American and the fourth American to participate in the Columbia University global cohort.
