Freshman Enrichment Courses

At St. Teresa’s Academy, we work to ensure every student has an opportunity to be successful. The following courses are designed to prepare students for areas of study they may find challenging. Based on a student’s application and placement test scores, STA may provide a provisional acceptance to our school, requiring that the student successfully complete one of the Freshman Enrichment Courses below in order to enroll at the Academy.

Freshman Enrichment also provides students with an opportunity to navigate campus and meet new classmates before the year begins. Please watch your mail/email for additional information about Freshman Enrichment.

In addition, qualifying exams are available and required if a student wishes to test into advanced level classes in certain classes in math, science, English and foreign languages. This qualifying exam date will be Saturday, March 8.

Registrations are accepted only through the STA Portal under Summer Camps.

STA may provide a student with provisional acceptance pending successful completion of this course.

This course is specifically for students entering STA as freshmen in the fall. It provides students an opportunity to analyze literature, practice analytical writing skills, collaborate with peers and develop communication skills. Additionally, students will receive support for their assigned summer English reading novel and assignment (students will be provided with the novel for class). Textbooks and technology fees are included.

Due to the pace of this course, it is imperative that students attend the entire session. Absences are highly discouraged and must be pre-approved by STA administration

This course is specifically for students entering STA as freshmen in the fall. It allows students to begin the Algebra I curriculum – the foundation for all high school math classes – in a more individualized setting with adjusted pacing. This course introduces students to fundamental topics in the curriculum and helps them identify and address skill gaps while building essential study skills to support success in algebra.

Due to the pace of the course, it is imperative that students attend the entire session. Absences are highly discouraged and must be pre-approved by STA administration

These courses are only for select students identified by the STA Admissions Office during the application and placement test process. STA may provide a student with provisional acceptance pending successful completion of this course.

The combined English & Math course is specifically for students entering STA as freshmen in the fall. The English course provides students an opportunity to analyze literature, practice analytical writing skills, collaborate with peers and develop communication skills. Additionally, students will receive support for their assigned summer English reading novel and assignment (students will be provided with the novel for class). Algebra I is the foundation for all high school math courses.

The Math course allows students to begin the Algebra I curriculum in a more individualized setting with adjusted pacing. This course will introduce the student to fundamental topics in the curriculum and help them to identify and address skill gaps while building essential study skills to support success in algebra. This freshman-level English course is an opportunity for students to analyze a variety of texts, practice writing skills, collaborate with peers and develop communication skills. Additionally, students will receive support for their assigned summer English reading novel and assignment (students will be provided with the summer reading novel for class). Textbooks and technology fees are included.
