MOScholars

MOScholars is a scholarship available to students who qualify based on a number of criteria outlined below.

The scholarship was created by the Missouri Legislature; you are encouraged to check your eligibility and apply when the application form opens in January 2023. Qualified students may be eligible for $6,375 annually to attend STA. Funds may be used toward tuition and other approved expenses.

To qualify, you must meet the general residential requirement listed on the application and comply with one of the two following pathways:

  • An approved IEP (individualized education plan) developed under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) OR
  • An ISP (individual service plan) developed in cooperation with a local educational agency under the IDEA, specifically those provisions pertaining to parentally placed private school children found in 20 U.S.C. §1412(a)(10) and 34 CFR §300.132(b)

Note:  Any IEP or ISP that is proffered for program eligibility must be dated within 36 months of the date of the student’s application to the program. Students with ISPs that are not developed under the IDEA are not eligible.

The student must be a member of a household whose total annual income does not exceed an amount equal to 200%* of the income standard used to qualify for free and reduced lunches, and meets at least one of the following criteria:

  • Attended a public school as a full-time student for at least one semester during the previous twelve months OR
  • Is eligible to begin Kindergarten or first grade

  • Household size 1 = $50,284
  • Household size 2 = $67,748
  • Household size 3 = $85,212
  • Household size 4 = $102,676
  • Household size 5 = $120,140
  • Household size 6 = $137,604
  • Household size 7 = $155,068
  • Household size 8 = $172,532

The scholarship can be used for the following eligible expenses at STA:

  • Tuition and fees
  • Required textbooks
  • Educational therapies
  • Tutoring services
  • Standardized test fees
  • Computers assigned by the school
  • Fees for summer education programs and specialized after-school programs
  • Transportation costs for mileage to and from school

The scholarship cannot be used on the following:

  • Consumable educational supplies included, but not limited to pens, pencils, paper and markers
  • Payments or reimbursements to family members
