New Taher chef feels right at home
STA is excited to welcome Chef Taylor Poulson to campus this fall. Chef Taylor comes to St. Teresa’s Academy from Omaha, Nebraska, where she also worked with Taher. We invited Chef Taylor to introduce herself to the STA community. Read her response below.
Hi! I am Chef Taylor Poulson. I was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, and attended an all-girls’ Catholic high school, Duchesne Academy. I loved my time there and I am so happy that St. Teresa’s already feels very similar to the atmosphere of Duchesne.
Before I was with Taher, I had been working in the service industry for about seven years and took some time away to “find my place” in the world, only to realize a short time later that being in the kitchen was my place and I really missed that environment. As if it were fate, a friend of mine reached out to ask if I would be interested in a position at the school where he worked in Omaha. I jumped at the opportunity. Then, in an almost too-good-to-be-true moment, I was offered this dream job here in Kansas City, and again I jumped head first into this new adventure.
I cook with love and passion, and I like to have fun. I hope that it shows in what I’ll be preparing for students this year. I am so excited to be a part of this community and I am so looking forward to this upcoming school year and getting to know the students, teachers, staff, and hopefully a few parents!
