STA announces new board members

St. Teresa’s Academy is honored to welcome the following leaders from the Kansas City community to the STA Board of Directors. Their appointments are effective in July.  

Leah FitzGerald is a leader in commercial real estate services with more than 25 years of experience in the field. Currently she is the Managing Director and Market Leader in CBRE’s Kansas City office, where she oversees office operations and growth strategies for commercial real estate services and investments.

Leah is active in community and professional organizations. She serves as a board member for the Downtown Council and is on the executive committee of Midtown KC Now, a local economic development agency. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring best practices for equitable and sustainable land use in the real estate industry.

Leah has received numerous awards in the real estate industry, including the WLI/ULI Regional Leadership Award and Engineering News Record Magazine’s 40 Under 40 Award.

Mary Jane (Groff, ’99) Judy, JD, is an established member of the Kansas City law community. She has more than 15 years of leadership experience at the Polsinelli law firm. As Co-Office Managing Partner, she focuses on complex real estate transactions and leads legal teams in portfolio sales and acquisitions.

Mary Jane’s extensive civic involvement includes board and leadership positions with the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, the Kansas City (MO) Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners, the Committee for County Progress, and the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City. 

Mary Jane is a member of the Missouri Bar and the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. She was selected for inclusion in the Kansas City Business Journal’s “Women Who Mean Business” (2021) and for The Best Lawyers in America (Real Estate Law, 2018-2022).

Ronald Slepitza, PhD, CSJA, is an education professional, having served in leadership positions since 1980. He has led Avila University as President since 2006. During that time he has strengthened the university’s Catholic identity and has been responsible for significant campus construction projects and enhancements. As a CSJ Associate (CSJA), he is committed to sharing in the faith community, ministry, prayer and celebrations of the Sisters of St. Joseph.

Dr. Slepitza’s community leadership includes board positions with Carondelet Health, Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, University of Missouri-Kansas City, Rockhurst High School, and Conception College Seminary, among others.

As a leader in education, Dr. Slepitza is published extensively. Has has received numerous awards, including Leawood Rotary’s Rotarian of the Year (2010-2011), University of Maryland’s College of Education Outstanding Leader Award (2008), and the Victor R.Yanitelli, SJ, Award for Outstanding Service from the Jesuit Association of Student Personnel Administrators (2005).
