St. Teresa’s Academy showed its STEM proficiency in this year’s eCYBERMISSION, a national web-based science, technology, engineering and math competition that promotes self-discovery and enables all students to recognize real-life applications of STEM.
One of this year’s teams fielded by STA, aptly named “The Brainy Bunch,” placed second in the state competition. They created special gummies to prevent side stitches in athletes. STA’s “The Mighty Chondria” team received an Honorable Mention in the state competition with its sound-dampening water bottle cover. All STA freshmen – 37 teams total – participated in the competition.
All teams took part in STA’s eCYBERMISSION Expo in late February to showcase their work to the community. STA science teachers Renee Blake, Mary Montag and Sarah Stranz worked with community partners including alumni, parents and numerous STEAM professionals to give the students feedback on their projects prior to the national competition.
