STA hosts visitors from Chile and Argentina

This week, STA was honored to welcome our dear neighbors from South America. Seven students and one Spanish teacher from various areas of Chile and Argentina visited campus, thanks to a connection with Global Ties Kansas City and the Youth Ambassadors for Chile, a program of the U.S. Embassy in Chile.

Students in Honors Spanish V paired with the visitors and introduced them to aspects of campus life including the Club Fair, lunch and various classes. During Spanish class, students engaged in authentic conversations in Spanish and got to know each other through partner activities and a trivia game with questions about Chile, Argentina and the U.S. STA students also learned about the linguistic diversity among Spanish speakers through this experience.

The visiting Spanish teacher and curriculum director from Chile teamed up with Ani Haroian, STA Spanish Teacher, to share best practices and discuss the possibility of a future teacher/student exchange program.

Students from Argentina and Chile spend time with the Stars on campus and in classes in an international cultural exchange.
