Dorian Bailey, a 2015 graduate of St. Teresa’s Academy and recipient of the 2025 STA Athletic Hall of Fame award, is a professional soccer player currently competing as a midfielder for Bay FC in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Her journey from Kansas City to the national stage reflects her dedication, talent, and love for the game.
During her time at STA, Bailey was named the Kansas City Star’s Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was a two-time Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year. She also received STA’s Pauline Reardon Sportsmanship Award in 2015, which honors a senior for outstanding athletic accomplishments. This award is named after Pauline Reardon, STA’s longtime dean of students, coach, and PE teacher. Bailey earned All-Metro honors in soccer in 2013, 2014, and 2015; All-State recognition in those same years; and was named an All-American in 2014 and 2015. As a student-athlete, she led her team to second place at State in 2013 and 2014, and to the championship in 2015.
After graduating from STA, Bailey attended the University of North Carolina, where she played for the Tar Heels from 2015 to 2018. She earned Freshman All-ACC honors and finished her collegiate career with 17 goals and 17 assists across 86 matches.
In 2019, Bailey was selected eighth overall in the first round of the NWSL College Draft by the Washington Spirit. She made her professional debut that April and played a key role in the Spirit’s 2021 NWSL Championship win. In December 2023, she was traded to Bay FC, an NWSL expansion club, where she continues to thrive.
Bailey has also represented the United States at multiple youth national team levels. She earned a bronze medal at the 2013 CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship and scored her first international goal in a win over Guatemala.
From her early days at St. Teresa’s Academy to her success on the national and international stage, Bailey has exemplified excellence, perseverance and pride in her Kansas City roots. Her achievements continue to inspire young athletes – especially girls – who dream of playing at the highest level.
“I’m incredibly grateful and honored to be inducted into the St. Teresa’s Hall of Fame,” said Bailey. “My time at STA instilled values of discipline, teamwork, resilience, and work ethic–principles that have shaped both my life and my soccer career in meaningful ways. I was fortunate to be surrounded by so many amazing people, both on the field and in the classroom, who challenged and supported me every step of the way.” She continued, “I’m truly thankful for the opportunity to attend St. Teresa’s and for the continued support of the remarkable STA community.”
Bailey will accept her induction into the STA Hall of Fame virtually during the ceremony on Friday, October 10. Due to a game in Seattle with Bay FC on the same day, Bailey will join the celebration remotely through a live video or prerecorded message. The event will also feature a special conversation with guest speaker Jocelyn Monroe, Vice President and Head of Marketing for the Kansas City Current and CPKC Stadium. The discussion will be hosted in a conversational Q&A format, moderated by STA Athletic Director Kat Williams, offering insights into Monroe’s career in sports marketing and her leadership in advancing women’s professional athletics.
Monroe leads marketing and promotional efforts for the Kansas City Current and CPKC Stadium, the first stadium purpose-built for a women’s professional sports team. Before joining the team in 2023, she was an executive at Creative Artists Agency (CAA), where she developed brand strategies for top companies and helped connect HBCU students with career opportunities in sports and entertainment. Her work has supported major brands like Coca-Cola, Google, Nissan, and AT&T, and included campaigns with the NBA, NCAA, Fast & Furious, and NBC’s The Voice. Monroe began her career at Madison Square Garden and has held leadership roles at OMD and The Coca-Cola Company. She holds degrees from Albany State University and North Carolina State University.
