STA Names New Head Tennis Coach

St. Teresa’s Academy is proud to announce the hiring of Carol Creel as the new head tennis coach, bringing with her more than two decades of exceptional coaching, teaching and leadership experience at the highest levels of high school athletics.

Coach Creel joins STA after an extraordinary 25-year career at Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas, where she served as both a French educator and head tennis coach, leading year-round varsity and junior varsity programs for boys and girls. During her tenure, she built one of the most successful and respected tennis programs in Texas.

Her coaching resume is highlighted by remarkable competitive success, including:

• 8 individual State Champions
• 7 individual State Runners-Up
• 42 individual State qualifiers
• 4 appearances at the State Team Tennis Tournament, including two State Runner-Up finishes
• Multiple District and Regional Team Tennis titles over a span of more than 15 years

Beyond competitive excellence, Coach Creel is widely recognized for her commitment to character development, community service and program-building. She led long-standing initiatives such as tennis-a-thon fundraisers, raising between $10,000-$16,000 annually for program and facility improvements, and coordinated community outreach efforts including equipment donation drives and holiday service projects benefiting underserved students.

Coach Creel’s leadership has been honored with numerous awards, including:

• CATA High School Coach of the Year (2003, 2009, 2025)
• TGCA Team Tennis Coach of the Year (2018)
• UIL 6A Region Coach of the Year (2022)
• TTCA 4A Coach of the Year (2009)
• NHSCA Sectional Coach of the Year (2005)

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin, with dual majors in French and mathematics, and is fluent in both French and English. Coach Creel is also a USPTR Certified Tennis Professional and Tennis Canada Level 2 Certified Professional, further underscoring her technical expertise and commitment to athlete development.
