Gabrielle Staker (Gabby) was awarded the honor of 2019 Academy Woman. Three members of the class of 2019 were nominated, Gabby, Brooke Eldridge, and Jane Kincaid. After submitting reflections on their time at STA, members of the senior class, faculty, and staff voted to recognize Gabby with this esteemed tradition.
Each year, St. Teresa’s Academy recognizes a senior student who exemplifies “the best of the best,” the finest personal qualities and characteristics of an STA student, including religious and moral character, leadership, loyalty, responsibility, and service.
In her reflection, Gabby wrote, “God has shown me so much love through this school. I can only hope that I’ve shown love back, and that I’ve appreciated His awesome plan as much as I could. STA was a gift that took four years to unwrap. Slowly and patiently. Beautifully. Everything has become so beautiful in its time. It’s so hard for me to imagine leaving it behind, mostly because I still believe that each day here, in the short time that we have left together, the best is yet to be.”
Gabby shares STA alumna status along with her grandmothers, Martha Leahy Staker (’62, and 2012 Distinguished Alumna Award) and Marianne Spellman Dunn (’68). The Academy Woman award has been a tradition for over 60 years and is announced each April during the Awards Day Ceremony.
