The St. Teresa’s Academy Athletic Department announced the hiring of Allison Eigsti as the head coach of the Stars dance team.
A studio dancer the majority of her life, Eigsti has experience in both the instruction and competition realms of the sport as a high school, collegiate and professional dancer.
“My love of dance team took off when I made my high school dance team, the Mill Valley Silver Stars,” Eigsti said. “I was a team captain my junior and senior years and I loved being a part of the team.”
Eigsti spent two (2015-16) years on the Kansas City Royals KCrew while at Mill Valley and during her freshman year of college. The 2015 season provided her the opportunity to perform through the team’s World Series Championship.
Following high school graduation, she furthered her dance career at Kilgore College (Kilgore, Texas) as a member of the 76th line of the Kilgore Rangerettes - the world's first drill team. As a Rangerette, Eigsti performed throughout the world, including the 90th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the 75th Commemoration of Pearl Harbor, and the 2016 Presidential Inauguration. After her time with the Rangerettes, Eigsti transferred to the University of Missouri where she was a member of the Golden Girls and earned Rookie of the Year honors. Additionally, she served on the Mizzou Student Advisory Board and was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Eigisti graduated Summa Cum Lade with a B.S. in Textile & Apparel Management.
“I loved being a part of the best University and getting to cheer at all of the SEC football and basketball games,” Eigsti said. After graduating from Mizzou, Eigsti was selected to the 2019 Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleaders, where she again was named the squad’s Rookie of the Year and cheered the team to the 2020 Super Bowl Championship.
“Being a Chiefs Cheerleader is the best position in the world and I love sharing my passion for the Chiefs with so many others in our community,” Eigsti said. “I am so excited to begin working with these talented young women and be a part of the St. Teresa's family.”
Eigsti takes over a program which finished first in the Mix category and third in the Jazz category at the 2020 Missouri Dance Team Association State Competition.
In addition to Eigsti as head coach, Aubrey Maggard will join the staff in an assistant role. “I am very excited about the opportunity to serve as assistant coach for the St. Teresa’s dance team,” Maggard said. “I look forward to working with the girls and building upon the Star’s strong tradition.”
“We’re incredibly excited to have Coach Eigsti and her staff join the STA community and coaching staff,” Athletic Director, Ty Abney said. “We interviewed a deep, qualified pool of candidates. Coach’s passion for empowering young women through dance, experience and enthusiasm made our decision fairly easy. I’m eager to get her in the gym with our girls and begin building a new era of dance at STA. I’m confident she and her staff will be great assets to the program and our department.”
Tryouts information for the 2020-21 team will be posted in the near future. Please continue checking STA social media accounts as well as the STA Dance homepage for information.
