The cross country team raced at the Class 4 Sectional 3 meet in Joplin on Saturday. Eight of our ten runners ran new personal best times and our top four runners were sectional medalists, finishing the 3.1 mile course in 19 minutes. Sydney Swan was our top finisher in 12th place, Maddie Weiford finished in 15th place, Merideth O’Donnell finished in 20th place, Veronica Fast finished in 21st place. Delaney Hupke finished in 33rd place, Sydney Waldron finished in 38th place and Lilly Hupke finished in 52nd place.

In the alternates race, new personal best times were run by Katie Riffle and Elizabeth Torrey and Abbi Hennessy ran her fastest race of the season.

The Stars finished in third place out of nine teams and advanced the entire team to the state meet.

This is the 31st year of the cross country program at STA and in 23 of those years, the entire team has advanced to the state meet. The other eight years, St. Teresa’s Academy had at least one runner compete in the state meet. STA has been represented at the state meet every year since 1989, when Coach Egner started our cross country program.

The Stars will race at the Missouri State Meet at Gans Creek in Columbia this Saturday, November 9. The Class 4 Girls race will be the last race of the day at 1:05PM.
