Elementary/Middle School: Academie Lafayette
Activities/Interests: Soccer, Cross Country, Basketball Manager
Why did you choose to attend St. Teresa's Academy?
Originally, STA athletics were what drew my eye to STA. I shadowed once, then decided STA was my number one choice. I shadowed again and made my official decision. I remember the day I shadowed, I sat in an advisory lunch with my hostess and I couldn't tell which girls were in which grade. Immediately, I knew this was an atmosphere I wanted to be in. One of the main reasons I chose STA was because of how well everyone got along. I also chose STA because of the academics, its bigger size, the athletics, and the way fun activities are incorporated into academics.
What has been your favorite class at STA?
So far, my favorite class at STA is by far Anatomy & Physiology. I'm taking it this year, so I haven't had a lot of experience in the class, but I love it. It's a subject that interests me a lot, so I’ve thoroughly enjoyed everything about the class.
What is your favorite part of the STA community?
My favorite part of the STA community is the camaraderie in advisories and sports teams. Because of an injury my freshman year, I met one of my best friends ever at STA by taking a leap of faith and managing the cross country team. It was rather intimidating, but it's the best decision I’ve made because I developed a whole network of friends. The best advice I can give is to join a fall sports team freshman year because, walking into your first day of high school, you will automatically know people of all ages.
What has been your most memorable experience at STA?
One of my most memorable experiences at STA was the Color Throw my freshman year. This is one of the first times I really felt like I was at home at STA. The smiles on everyone's faces and how everyone got along and just had a blast was truly something I will never forget.
Looking back at your year(s) at STA, what would you tell yourself on the first day of school?
I have now completed two years at STA. Looking back, I would tell myself on the first day of school to calm down and not worry about not knowing very many people because everyone is in the same boat. You will make friends, everyone just needs to get settled.
What advice would you give to prospective students who are considering STA?
For anyone considering STA, my advice is don't follow your friends to a high school, and don't choose a high school based solely on sports. If you choose based on one of these things, you may be miserable if that's the only thing you like about the school. Consider all of your options, and make the decision based on which school is best overall for YOU.
What is the one thing you have learned most about yourself? How has STA helped you discover that?
I have learned that I can be a lot more outgoing and make more friends than I thought I could. STA helped me discover this because of how many new people there were walking into school. I'm so glad STA helped me discover this because it’s something that will stay with me into college and beyond.
