GEORGIA, Class of 2023
Elementary/Middle School: St. Paul's Episcopal Day School
Activities/Interests: Dive, Relay for Life, Sources of Strength, Journaling Club

Why did you choose to attend St. Teresa's Academy?
Both of my sisters went to STA, and I felt very welcomed when I shadowed. I loved the overall feel of St. Teresa's more than other schools I shadowed, so I knew it was the right school for me.

What has been your favorite class at STA?
My favorite class I've taken at STA was Ancient World History with Ms. Stewart last year. I've never been a huge fan of history because I always mix up dates and events, but Ms. Stewart made the class really fun, and also taught us about climate change, which is something I'm interested in.

What is your favorite part of the STA community?
My favorite part of the STA community is the sisterhood between classmates and grade levels. I feel the sisterhood most when I am with my advisory or at dive practice, because those are the times when I bond with upperclassmen that I wouldn't ordinarily see.

What has been your most memorable experience at STA?
My most memorable experience at STA would either be my Freshman Retreat or Relay for Life. The Freshman Retreat was an event that made me feel so much more comfortable with my classmates and with STA in general. I also loved Relay for Life because I think it is such a good idea to raise money for a cause that means a lot to me.

Looking back at your year(s) at STA, what would you tell yourself on the first day of school?
I would tell myself that it is okay to be overwhelmed and nervous during the first few weeks of school, and that it will all get better. I would also tell myself not to be afraid to make new friends.

What advice would you give to prospective students who are considering STA?
I would tell them to shadow STA, and I would also tell them about all of my favorite parts of STA and the activities they’ll find. Shadowing STA is what really helped me know for sure it was the right place because I had a great day and felt like I was already a student. I would also tell prospective students about all the clubs, extracurriculars, and events  because I feel like there is something for everyone at STA.

What is the one thing you have learned most about yourself? How has STA helped you discover that?
I have discovered that I am capable of more than I think. Last year, I never thought I would get very involved with school activities and I was nervous that I would get bad grades. However, I am now involved in many activities and I get good grades because I have teachers and classmates that have supported me and helped me to achieve my goals.
