CSJ Student Exchange Trip Le Puy France, June 2019
Jennifer Petree and Barbara McCormick
Students were immersed in the French culture while living with host families from our sister school in Le Puy. This exchange inspired students to discover the roots of the Academy’s founders. Visiting the kitchen where the Sisters of St. Joseph began their service to the dear neighbor in 1650. They learned about bobbin lace making and how this trade helped many women out of poverty. Students hiked several miles of the El Camino as part of their spiritual journey, which allowed them to reflect upon the pilgrimage made by six young women who vowed to bring the charisms of the Sisters of St. Joseph to America. St. Teresa’s Academy and the St. Joseph School in Le Puy En Velay strive for “unity” by bridging the two school communities through this international partnership.
