Welcome, new students and families, to the St. Teresa’s Academy community! As families of incoming freshmen and transfer students, this New Students webpage will provide a place for you to find announcements and information to help guide you to the start of the school year.

Download the STA App
A great way to stay informed and find answers to pressing questions is to download the STA mobile app to your smartphone. The app is free and allows you to get the latest information at your fingertips, while staying informed of real-time school alerts.

With the STA app, you’ll have access to:

  • Class Schedules
  • The School Calendar and Athletic Schedules
  • Faculty/Staff and Student/Parent Directories
  • The STA Student COVID-19 Health Check-In Form

To download, go to your phone’s app store and search for “St. Teresa’s Academy.” Click “Get” to download and open the free app. Log in by entering your Last Name and email address. Make sure you use the email on file for PowerSchool.

Student Health Online Check-In Form

Due to the pandemic, all students and/or parents are to fill out the online Health Check-in form prior to entering campus each day. You will find a link to this online form on the Mobile Up App or by clicking here. We encourage students to remain at home if not feeling well and that they be fever free for 72 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning to school.


In her advisory, your daughter will begin to form relationships with her advisor and  peers from all grade levels during the next four years. She will have lunch; celebrate birthdays, special occasions, and holidays; and pray and connect on a personal level. The STA advisory truly becomes a family.

Uniform Policy
All students are expected to wear the St. Teresa’s uniform. Please click here to review the complete Uniform Policy. All uniform items are to be purchased through the Star Shop on the STA campus.

Uniform Skirt Update
Due to unexpected circumstances, the STA uniform skirt is not expected to arrive prior to the start of school. Until skirts arrive, students without a uniform skirt may wear any of the following options:

  • Black, Knee-Length Shorts
  • Black, Uniform-Length Skirt
  • Black Pants

Formal Uniform (Every student must have a formal uniform.)

  • Appropriate Face Covering (Personal Mask)
  • Tartan Plaid Skirt - maximum of 3 inches above knee bone. Students with shorter skirts will be required to lengthen the skirt or replace it within a designated period of time.
  • White or Black STA Emblem Polo Shirt 
  • Red or Black Blazer - required for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors (optional for seniors)
  • Solid Black or Red V-neck Sweater, Sweater Vest or Cardigan with the STA Emblem - required for seniors 
  • Solid Black, Solid White, or Solid Grey Socks
  • Solid Black Ankle Length Tights/Leggings
  • Closed-Toed Shoes

Administration reserves the right to send a student home when in violation of the school uniform policy. The absence will be marked unexcused.

Mark Your Calendars for these Important Dates
The calendar on the STA website (found in the top right corner of every webpage) is a valuable resource to keep track of the latest dates, times, and locations for STA-related events.

  • Uniform Pick-up: If you ordered uniform shirts and/or blazers, they may be picked up in the Star Shop in late July. No appointment is needed unless you are unavailable to come during the following times:
    • July 27-28, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
    • July 29-30, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
    • Orientation: August 17-18, 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • Fall Sports Tryouts: August 10

  • Upperclassmen Orientations: August 14
    • Sophomore Orientation: 8:00 a.m. (Wear STA polo & bring blazer for school pictures)

  • Digital Citizenship Night Virtual Meeting:
    • August 17, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
    • This technology session is designed to assist parents and guardians with the conversations they may have with their daughter when using digital devices. One parent or guardian from each family of a freshman or transfer student must attend.
  • First Day of Class: August 19 (Schedule 1)
    • Students are required to wear an appropriate face covering (Personal Mask)
    • Students must be in uniform attire (uniform skirt or black shorts/skirt/pants and polo).
    • St. Teresa's does not publish a school supply list; individual teachers will communicate any specific supplies needed on the first day of class.
    • For the first day of class, your student brings her computer, a pen/pencil, and a notebook.
  • Incoming New Parents’ Breakfast: August 22 and/or August 29, 9:00 a.m.
  • Back to School Night: August 27, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Addressing Accommodations

St. Teresa’s Academy is committed to supporting the diverse learning needs of all students. Accommodations guidelines are for students with diagnosed learning differences. Administration, teachers and academic counselors assess student needs and determine the appropriate support to promote student success. Parents must provide the school with documentation diagnosing the student's learning differences by a licensed or certified evaluator. Click here to learn more.

One-to-One Technology Program

In support of STA’s One-to-One Technology Program, every student is provided with a customized computer for lease throughout the school year. The devices serve as tools for students to access information and technologies necessary for advanced instruction and learning. The Dell Latitude 7400 2-in-1 has been selected as the student device from 2020 through 2024.  To find out more, please click here.

Your daughter will receive her Dell 7400 2-in-1 computer during the first day of orientation. The computer comes with a pen and charger. Your daughter may use her own backpack to transport her computer if it includes a laptop compartment (added cushion).  A school issued computer bag can be issued upon request.

Tuition and SMART Tuition

Tuition and fees are to be paid through your Smart Tuition account. Payment plans are available at a cost of $45 per family. Tuition can be spread over monthly, quarterly or semi-annual payments. There is no Smart fee if you pay in full by July 10.

With Smart Tuition, you are able to:

  • Select a payment method that works best for you
  • Choose to receive a monthly invoice or set-up recurring automatic payments from your bank account or credit card
  • Pay by credit card (convenience fee added)
  • Pay by e-check (no fee)
  • Access your account online
  • Review account history, transaction details, and print monthly invoices
  • Edit your contact information, password, and payment method
  • Make a payment or set up recurring payments

Healthy Lunches and Bistro Kids

Lunch services will be limited during this time of COVID. 

Bistro Kids, a Kansas City area food services company, has provided healthy and nutritious lunch options for students of St. Teresa’s Academy since 2013. In addition to their lunch program, Bistro also provides catering services for STA events.

Parents will be mailed details on opening an account on the Bistro Kids website.  If ordering lunch, your daughter will use this website and account to request her meal.  On Freshman Orientation Day, your student will learn how to use the Bistro Kids website for ordering in advance of the lunch hour. 

Downloading the Company Kitchen App is recommended. With this app, you and your daughter can check the balance of your account and reload funds. Download the app by clicking here.

Wellness Initiative

At St. Teresa’s Academy, the term education means more than just academic readiness; it also involves the essential nurturing of the body, mind, and spirit. To support your daughter’s physical well-being, a registered nurse is available everyday to assist students with health and wellness related needs and issues.

Accessing Student Information through PowerSchool

PowerSchool offers parents and students real-time access to grades, attendance, and other information. It may be accessed through a web browser, as well as through an app for Android and iOS devices.

New parents must create an account with the Access ID and Password that was provided for them. For complete instructions, please click here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   When does school start?
A:   The first day of school is August 19. Students should arrive early enough to be seated in their first period class or Open Room by 8:30 a.m. Students arriving later than 8:30 a.m. will be tardy.  School ends at 3:15 p.m. Students must wear a face covering, and be in the STA daily uniform, which includes skirt (or black shorts/skirt/pants), and STA polo shirt.

Q:   Is there a uniform shop on campus?
A:   Yes, the Star Shop is located on the first floor of the Goppert Center. For details, visit the Star Shop webpage or contact Kristen Walker at

Q:   What if my daughter is late for school or must be absent?
A:   If your daughter is late, she must check in at the M&A office (west building). For absences, you must call the school before  9:00 am.. Dial 816-501-0011 and select #5.

  • Due to the pandemic all students and/or parents must submit the online Student Health Check-In Form prior to entering campus.

Q:   Where may I learn about school policies, procedures, and schedules?
A:   You will be emailed the Parent/Student Handbook in August. In this email, you will be asked to confirm your review of the Handbook. Please keep an eye open for this important document. This document can also be found on the school website under the Parents tab under “File Downloads” at the bottom of the page.

Q:   What should my daughter do if she is not feeling well?
A:   First, your student should tell her teacher so her location is known. She may then go to the nurse’s office located on the first floor of M&A. She may also go to either the M&A or Donnelly Hall office.

Q:   I have questions about Smart Tuition. Where do I go?

Getting Involved through Clubs and Extracurricular Activities

Clubs and extracurricular activities offer great opportunities for students to explore interests, develop skills, and foster lifelong friendships. Students may choose from over 50 clubs and teams to get involved in their new school. Click here to explore the wide variety of possibilities available.

Star Shop 

STA’s on-campus Star Shop offers students, families and fans spirit wear, gifts, and uniforms throughout the year. On Fridays during the school year, students may wear STA spirit wear with their uniform skirt. Visit the Star Shop website for hours or to shop online.
