CELEBRATING DIVERSITY & FOSTERING INCLUSION
As a school founded and sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, the community of St. Teresa’s Academy is called to move always to “live in profound love of God and neighbor without distinction.”
Diversity has been a key component of the St. Teresa’s Academy mission and philosophy since its founding in 1866. The STA community values and embraces a racially, culturally, ethnically, geographically and economically diverse student body and school community. Students, faculty and staff with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives enrich and enhance the learning process and help each of us to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are so vital to succeed and live a meaningful life in today's global community.
One of the primary core beliefs of St. Teresa’s Academy states:

At St. Teresa’s Academy, Brianna’s efforts ensure the STA community embraces an atmosphere of acceptance and education surrounding diversity issues by ongoing programming, extracurricular opportunities, recruitment tools, and professional development.

In addition to her role as an Academic Counselor, Kelly Eikermann McKee has served as Diversity Coordinator since 2015. She also serves as a co-moderator of The Inclusion Project, moderator of The #1 Club, co-moderator of the freshman class, and facilitator of Freshman Star Seminar.
Kelly graduated from St. Teresa’s Academy in 1990, the University of Kansas with a BA in Psychology in 1994, and received her MSW with a concentration in Mental Health from Washington University in 1996. Kelly worked as a social worker for 14 years before returning to St. Teresa’s to continue her counseling work in 2010.
As Diversity Coordinator, Kelly has worked with students, faculty, parents, and alumnae to help drive the Diversity Initiatives outlined in St. Teresa’s strategic plan. She strives to provide opportunities for the St. Teresa’s community to celebrate diversity while fostering inclusion.
