STA Volleyball Players Sign Letters of Intent
Three St. Teresa's Academy volleyball players have signed letters of intent to play volleyball at the collegiate level.
Seniors Nicole Wemhoff, Taylor Migliazzo and Kathleen Vogel will take their talents to the University of Missouri - Kansas City, the University of Oklahoma and Loyola University Chicago, respectively.
Wemhoff, a 2011 Missouri, Class 4, 1st Team All-State selection setter, currently ranks second in STA history in career assists with 2,322 and fifth in aces 75. She finished her 2011 campaign with 33 kills, 24 aces, 788 assists, 165 digs and 40 blocks. Wemhoff was selected to the Kansas City, Large Class MO-KAN All-Star team and was a four-year starter for the Stars.
"Nicole is one of the most talented and dedicated athletes I've ever worked with," Head Coach Abbie Lane said. "I am confident she will continue to train hard and impact the UMKC volleyball team.
STA's all-time digs leader (1,683), Migliazzo was 2011 Missouri, Class 4, 2nd Team All- State selection libero. She finished the 2011 season with 20 aces and 371 digs. Migliazzo was selected to the Kansas City, Large Class MO-KAN All-Star team and was a four-year starter for the Stars.
"Taylor has been a large part of our team the last four years," Lane said. "Her competitive nature, desire to win and will to make her teammates better should carry over well at the next level.
Vogel will finish her high school career as one of STA's most dominant players. A four-year starter, the outside hitter currently holds the STA record for career aces (142), second in career kills (1,093) and fourth in career digs (1,056). Vogel finished the 2011 season with 33 kills, 24 aces, 82 digs and 6 blocks in just 18 matches. She was a four-year starter for the Stars and twice named Team MVP. Vogel was also named a 2011, Large Class, MO-KAN All-Star
"Kathleen is one of the finest players to come out of STA," Lane said. "She is a combination of athletic ability, work ethic and commitment to her team."
